Needed more help with treating Bean's eczema
On Saturday evening after I got Bean out of the (vinegar) bath and we were about to go to bed, I took a good look at him and realized with a very big sigh that I had better take him in to emergency at the hospital. His eczema had spread so completely that I felt there was nothing more I could do. Neither of us wanted to go there, but go there we did and it was the right thing to do. We registered and then took our place in the crowded to overflowing waiting room with all the other sick kids and their parents. Bean was his usual energetic self looking, I'm sure, to some that he didn't have reason to be there, until he pulled off his own diaper in the middle of the waiting room and everybody could see the red burn-like splotches of eczema all over his little legs. A collective gasp was sounded as I picked him up to put on a new diaper. It did open up some conversation with the other waiters for a little while. The doctor has put him on antibiotics, a liquid steroid and prescribed a bleach bath instead of the vinegar ones. We both stayed home on Monday and Tuesday to take some time and attention with the matter and to get into our routine of administering all the medicine Bean has to take. I do see some improvement which is encouraging. He is a very strong and resistant little patient so far however. I wonder how they did today at daycare with administering his dose there? Oh well, onward we go.
